Bridge Award levels
You can choose from 2 award levels for the Bridge Award. Start at the Award level that matches your age and the amount of time you can commit.
Level 1
Level 1 encourages young people to have new experiences, gain new skills, become more confident and achieve greater independence.
Recommended age: 12 years to 25 years.
Time commitment
It takes at least 2 months to complete Level One.
- Service—5 hours or more
- Skill—5 hours or more over at least 2 months
- Physical Recreation—6 hours or more over at least 2 weeks
- Adventurous Journey—4 hours of travel over 1 day.
Level 2
Level 2 provides young people with the opportunity to further develop the skills gained in Level One, to cooperate with others, and to keep having fun.
Recommended age: 13 years to 25 years.
Once you have finished Level 2, it’s easy to move on to the Bronze level of The Duke of Ed (from 14 years of age) as the award sections are the same.
Time commitment
It takes at least 4 months to complete Level Two.
- Service—10 hours or more
- Skill—10 hours or more over at least 4 months
- Physical Recreation—12 hours or more over at least 4 weeks
- Adventurous Journey—4 hours of travel each day over 2 days.
